I left-clicked on the game's launch icon and set the compatibility mode to Windows 2000. After that, the game has been running fine. As a side note, I have a widescreen laptop with Windows Vista 64 bit. I have set my Graphic card software to play video with the aspect ratio preserved, not stretched.
